A Song

Hello to the Good, the True and the Beautiful©

I can't stay here,
Though I've tried and tried and tried
In my body, soul and mind,
I can't stay here.

Though I've embraced fear's darkest face,
Climbed a mountain from earned disgrace,
Ached with Beauty at first love's last trace:
I can't stay here, I can't stay here,
I can't stay here.

Though I've shared sweet visions in the grass,
Stood up and fought to make them last,
Walked an angel to her first class:
I can't stay here, I can't stay here.
I can't stay here.

And when I stop to look behind
In my memory I will find,
Pictures of joy and hard times
Mellowing like grape juice into wine,
Forever  locked outside of time
I can't stay here, I can't stay here.
I can't stay here.
