"When silence occurs in an assemblage,
they say that Hermes has joined the company."
--Plutarch, "On Garrulity"

The quote and the image of Bloemstraat roses are by-products of a  recent visit to the House of Living Books, see www.ritmanlibrary.com.  If you are in the neighborhood it is a good idea to schedule a visit there. Many thanks to the Ritman  Family and Staff.  Here is a short break in the silence.

A Recipe to Prove the Arrival of the Child of Light©

To tell if it's time--
That your little one's
Magic has come to birth,
Just follow the simple--
Test recipe first.

Pay careful attention to the gathering of your ingredients.
Take three clear glasses:
One medium,
One tall and skinny,
One short and fat.

Fill the medium glass with water,
Then empty it into the tall skinny glass.
Fill again the same medium glass with water,
Then empty it into the short fat glass.
Watch closely, so not to spill.

Set aside the medium glass.
Compare the contents of the tall skinny glass,
With those of the short fat glass.
Next, to be sure, clearly:  ask the child,
Which of the two is holding more water?

If you find it tall and skinny
You may dream of leaf, flower and fruit,
But if you see the same in both,
Now you have our seed and root.
